I’ve not been feeling very excited by the fashion world at the moment, so I’ve decided to look into the personal style of some of my favorite people instead, beginning with Patti Smith, below, and continuing with a lady who is very dear to me- Nina Simone. I’ll never forget the first time that I heard her hauntingly beautiful voice; I was driving somewhere in Maine in the middle of the night and heard The Other Woman on the radio, and I’ve loved her ever since. I guess I have a thing for singers who can convey immense sadness in their voices- Patsy Cline is pretty much always on my record player. But who knew that she was also a pretty great (and daring) dresser? Look at that hat! Look at that macramè dress!
